Makeup Must Have

I’m a total makeup junkie…actually beauty product junkie.  I love trying new things and new products and can never ever have enough samples! I could literally spend hours at Sephora or Ulta trying new products.  However, I do have my go to ones that I just love so much.  Some products on my Makeup Must Have list I’ve been using for years, while others are pretty new but I already can’t live without!

Mascara

So I’m literally been wearing DiorShow by Dior for about 10 years now and I just can’t live without that mascara, its just perfection.  However, lately I’ve been a huge and I mean HUGE fan of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.  It makes my eyelashes super thick and long and they stay up pretty much all day.  It’s legit almost Better Than Sex! haha

Primer

I don’t use primer too much because my daily face product is a BB cream which includes primer already.  However, when I do wear foundation my go to primer is Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer. It’s super lightweight and I feel like it definitely helps make my skin more even, hydrated and looking really good in pictures. 😉

Concealer

So let me begin by saying if I was stranded on an island I would probably take a concealer.  I’ve always had problems with under eye circles! Now with a little baby that wakes me up a few times a night, I can easily say that I look like a hot mess with purple under eye circles 90% of the time! If you were to look in my makeup cabinet you will easily find 10 or more concealers that I go through and test out.  Well the Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer has been one that I truly love! It’s not super thick – which tends to make me look super cakey and it has perfect coverage.  I have to say it’s not super long-lasting, but the coverage is so good that I’m totally ok having to reapply a few times during the day.

Eyebrows

Huge huge huge major and probably most important makeup item you can own that you probably totally underrate is a good eyebrow pencil or filler.  Eyebrows can make or break a persons look – you can go from looking fresh and put together to an old hot little mess if your eyebrows aren’t just right. haha.  I have little patches in my eyebrows from the days when having thin brows were cool (why? why? why?) so now I have to fill them in a bit.  This eyebrow wax from EcoBrow is AMAZING. The coverage is just great, lasts all day and their pencil makes it super easy to apply. Don’t be intimidated by the little jar and the pencil.  Its super easy to apply and if you get it wrong just take it off and try again!

Powder

Not a huge powder person either, I only wear powder when I wear foundation – which is mostly only when I shoot or go out on the town.  However, when I do wear powder I love the Mineralize Skinfinish by MAC.  Great coverage and super natural looking!

Beauty Cream

BB Cream is my everyday “foundation”.  I love it that it’s so many products in one and with the 5 minutes I have in the mornings to look human again, this is just perfect! I also absolutely love the fact that I don’t have to spend hours finding the perfect shade for me or that when I get a tan it still matches my skin. BB Cream comes in max about 3-4 colors, so you can never go wrong! My all time favorite is the Dior Hydra Life BB Cream, not the cheapest out there but a little goes a long way! What I love the most about it is that it’s not just makeup, it’s also a hydrating moisturizer….so you are getting a great face treatment while you look good. 🙂

Bronzer

Hoola Bronzer by Benefit has been my go to bronzer for a looooong time.  It has ZERO shimmer, which a lot of times is a super welcome feature, so I can use it as a bronzer and also to contour my face.  It’s actually the perfect contour color and the fact that it has no shimmer/glitter makes it even better for that.

Eyelash Curler

My friends joke that when I go out you can find a lipstick, concealer and an eyelash curler in my clutch.  Seriously, it’s not a joke, I have a crazy little obsession with curlers and tend to use them more often than whats probably recommend. I go through different ones a lot, but I’ve been absolutely loving the Show Curl XL Lash Curler by Sephora, Creates a perfect curl that lasts all night – so technically I don’t have to put it in my clutch….but I still will.

Lipstick

I LOVE the Opague Rouge Liquid Lipstick by Hourglass so much, I think I’m in my 4th one already.  If you don’t know the lipsticks from hourglass then you need to know them like yesterday.  They are super long-lasting, and the type of long-lasting that doesn’t dry your lips. I have 2 colors that are my go to colors for everyday.  Canvas and Rose.  Canvas is more of a nude so I wear it almost everyday, and Rose is a nude with a hint of dark pink which is a color I wear when I want to add little life to my look. Regardless these are both great colors and a fantastic lipstick!

Lip Balm

My go to lip balm is Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment in Petal by Fresh, which is a super hydrating lip balm that comes in a ton of different shades.  From clear, to coral to red they have an amazing array of colors to choose from.  If you’re not a lipstick person,then you should have this in every color!

Eye Mask

 …last but not least, a little gadget that makes me sleep like a princes – my eye mask from Bella il Fiore. I just love it so much and I specially love all the cute little sayings they have on their masks. A must for a good night sleep these days!

Lipstick of the Moment : Please Me by Mac

My lipstick of the moment is Please Me by Mac.  This super soft, matte pink is perfect for a more toned down look or for when you want the focus to be on your eyes.  Nudes can be hard to pull off, so a soft color like this can easily be the next best thing. I’m a huge fan of pinks and even my nudes have an underlying pink hue to them, it just works well for my skin tone.  If you’re not a big dare-devil when it comes to lipstick colors, find a base color that works for you (pink, orange, red, brown) and then try to get lipsticks that have a similar underlying hue – you can’t go wrong that way!  Matte lips are super in right now too, and I just love the matte lipsticks from Mac, they are super long-lasting and surprisingly won’t dry out your lips like most matte lipsticks do.  Definitely worth a try!

Review: Nvey Eco Organic Makeup

Hi loves! Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! I was recently introduced to a new makeup line called Nvey Eco (available at ULTA) and wanted to do a little review on some of the products they have. Nvey Eco is an all organic makeup line, which is perfect for me right now – since I got pregnant I’ve been very cautious about what goes not only in my body, but also what products I use over my skin.  Skin is super absorbent and as much as you might think that creams, lotions and makeup products you are putting on your skin might not affect you, it does! So finding an organic makeup brand with no chemicals is fantastic!

Moisture Rich Fluid Foundation in Cool Natural (514) – Volumizing Mascara in Brown – Hydrating Lip Lustre in Barely There  – Advanced Care Lip Colour in Pink Lemonade

I got the Moisture Rich Fluid Foundation in Cool Natural (514) to try.  The foundation is super light and airy, definitely not greasy and sticky like some foundations.  It’s perfect for an everyday foundation and if you don’t require too much coverage.  For me it worked super well, as I’m not a huge heavy coverage foundation kind of girl and reserve the heavier foundations for a night out or the weekend. So this foundation is a go to for an everyday natural look.

The mascara does have very good volume! I used the Volumizing Mascara in Brown. Obviously I can’t tell you it compares to top mascara brands like Dior or Benefits, but it does give a good amount of volume and the pigmentation is super strong, making it a dark and rich brown brown.  A very pretty color!

I used the Advanced Care Lip Colour in Pink Lemonade.  It’s a nice light pink hue so it would be a good option for an almost nude look.  I didn’t find this color in particular to have too much pigmentation, so you need to apply it quite a bit to get a more intense color.  Still, it came out beautifully and has a little touch of shimmer that is just gorgeous!

The lipgloss I used was the Hydrating Lip Lustre in Barely There.  I loved loved this gloss, it’s not sticky, it’s extremely hydrating and the color is gorgeous! It actually has a great pigmentation to it – to me the gloss definitely wins over the lipstick.  It’s one of the better glosses I have tried in a long time and to think it’s completely organic makes it incredible!

The final verdict?! I’m a fan! I think it’s the perfect makeup line for everyday use. The products are very light and you will get a super natural glowy look with this awesome new organic makeup line! My favorite item of the line has to be the Hydrating Lip Lustre, I just loved it!

Lipstick of the Moment: YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush in Orange Fougueux

My lipstick of the moment is the YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush in Orange Fougueux. I just love an orange lip! You might think its such a summer color, but trust me, when worn correctly and with more subtle eye makeup it can be perfect for Fall as well. Such a beautiful color and the best part of this lipstick is that it can also double as a light weight blush! How cool is that?! It’s the perfect 2-in-1 and it will immediately declutter our messy purses. Perfection!

Review: Billion Dollar Brows Best Sellers Kit

Eyebrows are a major beauty accessory and if you don’t have your eyebrow game on point it’s definitely time to start putting some effort into it.  I obsess over eyebrow products and literally have a wide range of brands that I go back and forth with.  I recently decided to try the Billion Dollar Brows – Best Sellers Kit  (available exclusive at Kohl’s) since I had heard so much about the brand.  I was super pleasantly surprised by the quality of the products and how the kit has pretty much everything you need to get your eyebrows looking fantastic during your makeup session.  It comes in two color combos, blonde or brunette.  So it makes it easy to pick the right color for you since they don’t have 10 options…sometimes I hate when there are too many options to choose from, I legit get a headache trying to find the one that best matches my skin/hair. That’s why I’m a huge fan of BB cream! haha  Anyways, I do love the product and think it’s totally worth the steep price just because it does include everything you need to make you have those fab JLo eyebrows!

Step 1: The first product you would use is the “Universal Brow Pencil”.  The pencil has a pretty soft edge so you don’t have to use too much to get a high pigmentation on your eyebrows.  So pencil lightly using hair-like brush strokes to get the right tone in the right places.  Good thing is if you smudge or pencil the wrong place its pretty easy to take it off and you won’t have to start your eyebrows all over again.

My favorite “The Brow Duo Pencil”! Now this little guy is super fun and magical.  This is a double-sided pencil where on one end you have a fab “Highlighter” and on the other a “Concealer”.  So not only do you get to highlight your eyebrows, which is a major must when shooting for eyebrow perfection, BUT you also get to conceal and cover all those little blemishes you might have.  I myself can’t live without either product.  Highlighting has become a part of my daily beauty routine and concealers are a complete must for me, especially since I always have dark circles under my eyes and will probably look like Mike Tyson punched me in the eye once my baby is born and I will get zero sleep a night. haha.  So yeah, I think this little duo is pretty incredible!

Step 2: To apply the highlighter simply glide it directly under your eyebrow.  Now the consistency of the pencil is pretty soft and smudgy but that’s totally ok because that’s what the handy “Smudge Brush” is for. You can gently blend the highlighter onto your brow line to frame and define your eyebrows.

Step 3: Conceal those blemishes and dark circles.  You know how this goes! 🙂

Step 4: It doesn’t matter how beautiful the shape of your brows may be or how perfectly you highlighted your brow bone, if your little hairs are messy and all over the place – game over! Same way as you put on that dry shampoo or hairspray on your hair, you gotta get your brows under control too.  That’s why this little guy is super awesome and the perfect finishing touch to your perfect and polished eyebrows! Simply apply the applicator gently over your eyebrows. That’s it! And don’t worry, they have an amazing formula that won’t leave those white flakes once it dries.

I’m really loving this Billion Dollar Brows Kit and if you are into making sure your eyebrows look perfect I know you will love it too!

Lipstick of the Moment – Hourglass in Canvas & Rose

I’ve been searching for the perfect nude lipstick for months now, they are always either too pale or not nude enough for me.  It’s such a tricky color and I’ve always felt like I looked a bit ‘dead’ when wearing it.  Well, on one of my last trips to makeup heaven, Sephora, I found the perfect nude.  Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Canvas! It’s the perfect mix of nude with  a little undertone of rose, which makes it look more alive than most nudes.  I fell in love, bought it and love to wear it with my eyes a little more done up so it brightens up the undertoned lips.  After a few wears I just fell even more in love with the wear of the lipstick.  Its super long-lasting, and after it dries it has that awesome matte finish which is great for  nudes colors and is super in style now.  So, I went back to Sephora and tested out the other colors from line and ended up finding the perfect daytime, everyday color for this time of  year.  Spring is almost around the corner and a rose lipstick is just the perfect everyday/daytime color.  The Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Rose is super fun but subtle at the same time, and stays on all day long! I’m in love.

Plum Lips – The Color of the Season

There is nothing more uplifting for a super fashionable girl then beautiful lipstick. I honestly could be wearing jeans and a t-shirt and have my hair in a ponytail, but if I’m wearing a nice bold lipstick I feel like a million bucks! Lipstick is honestly one of my favorite accessories and something that every woman needs to find her go to colors! This season we put aside our trusty and classic red lips and try a more bold color – the it lipstick color this season is …..plum! This beautiful color comes in several different intensity levels making a great fit for anyone. You just have to try and see what looks best on you! Here are my favs….

Beauty Trend – BB Cream

Hi SF ladies,

So we have all heard of foundation (duh!) and moisturizer (double duh!), but some of us haven’t heard of BB Cream…so here I am to tell you all about it!

So what is BB Cream? Very simple actually.  BB Cream stands for Blemish Base Cream and essentially its an all-in-one facial product, and my must have, go to, favorite thing, now item! By all-in-one I mean it  replaces your serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation, and sunblock! Phew! Can you believe it?!  Seriously, that’s the magic of it.  BB Creams are almost like a tinted moisturizer, but imagine your tinted moisturizer took steroids, was dating a VS model and bought a Ferrari…then it could join the BB Cream clique.

Of course if you want a super intense look you might still want to pick up your primer and foundation, but for everyday use BB Cream is just incredible.

For an everyday look I tend to still moisturize my face (just because I am a moisturizer freak) before applying the BB Cream, and for more intense looks I tend to also apply serum and primer.  I don’t apply foundation just because I don’t tend to use it, but if you do then I would apply a little extra as the BB Cream is not a full coverage product.

I’ve tried tons of different brands until I’ve found my current favorite.  I am completely obsessed with the Dior BB Cream as the foundation is a bit more pigmented making it a medium coverage cream. Plus, once applied it doesn’t look as shiny as some of the other ones I’ve tried, it has more of a matte look which I prefer.

Here are my favorites…and remember…for some of these you can ALWAYS take a little trip to Sephora and ask for samples before you make a purchase – especially since some of these creams can be a bit pricey. So try them out first before you take the big purchasing step.

Beauty Trend – Lip Stain

Lately I’ve been completely obsessed with lip stains. Not only are they super easy to use and long wearing but they can easily double as other products that you may not be carrying in your purse.  If you don’t know what lip stains are, they literally do what the name says – they stain your lips, cheeks or wherever you might choose to put them.  With all the different brands now offering stains the color options are literally endless! I usually pick a color that’s a little more towards red, that way I can use the stain not only for my lips but also for my cheeks – allowing me to leave my blush at home.
